Plastazote® is a thermoplastic polyethylene foam with a uniquely cross-linked construction that sits on the superior surface of the orthotic, covering the entire heel cup and extending to the desired length: Mets, sulcus or toes. According to theCenter for Medicare Services (CMS), it has set the standard for non-toxic, diabetic linings and insoles. Plastazote is extremely light, washable, provides soft cushion discourages bacterial growth and has good thermal properties. Plastazote does damage and compresses easily over time. As a top covering, Plastazote covers any modifications or additional materials requested and comes into direct contact with a patient’s plantar foot
